Well, even with a couple major audiobook projects recently, I guess I had the time during this pandemic for a random creative project!
As many of you know, I’ve been hosting the podcast The Working Actor’s Journey, and knowing that all the guests (like all of us!) are stuck at home, I reached out to see if they’d be interested in some kind of a LIVE online Shakespeare reading. This had never really been done before (why would it?) and yet, now the conditions were almost perfect for it—and the response from the actors was overwhelming!
So, on April 2, 2020—only two weeks after we received the “shelter-in-place” notice in California—a group of all-star actors assembled for an amazing reading of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing! As this came together so quickly, we all just “jumped in” to this new venture. There was no director or rehearsals, aside from a few “tech” calls to figure this all out. I was *very* confident in everyone’s abilities, and they greatly exceeded my expectations!
You can WATCH an excerpt of the first reading right here.
Learn more about the cast and this project during our times of “much ado about SOMETHING” over on The Working Actor’s Journey!
Such incredible actors, including Dakin Matthews, Ray Porter, Armin Shimerman, Alan Mandell, and many more—and all of them have been interviewed on the show! Many of these actors have spent much of their careers working on Shakespeare and to have so many in one cast is quite the embarrassment of riches! It certainly took something like the current events to make it even possible that everyone was available!
Hope you enjoy!
